How To Make Your First Visit With Your Arthritis Doctor Successful
For years you have trusted your primary care doctor to look after the aches and pains you are experiencing as you grow older. At your last appointment, though, your doctor suggested now is the time for you to get more specialized treatment for your arthritis.
He wants you to see a rheumatologist. What exactly is a rheumatologist, you wonder, and what can he do that is any different from my doctor? A rheumatologist is basically an arthritis doctor who has been specially trained to diagnose and treat your arthritis symptoms.
Like any other doctor, a rheumatologist can only diagnose the symptoms you tell him about, so be prepared when you attend your first appointment. In fact, you may want to start a week or so in advance to really take stock of your aches and pains. On each day for a week, you should pinpoint which joints hurt and how badly. You may also want to note what the weather was like that day as this can affect arthritis. Your arthritis doctor will also want to know how well you are able to complete day-to-day activities. Does your arthritis keep you from doing simple yard work? Are you able to take a short walk with no pain? Can you lift and carry items easily?
During your first appointment, your arthritis doctor will also want a full medical history. It may be helpful to do a little research and take notes in advance to make sure you will be able to fill out your history completely. Things you will need to know include any family history of rheumatoid arthritis, any past surgical procedures you have had as well as any allergies you may have. You will also need to be able to list the strengths and dosages of any prescription or over-the-counter medicines you take regardless of whether they are related to your arthritis or not. If you’re afraid you’ll forget any of this information, it may be helpful to take your medicine bottles with you. Based on the medicines you already take, your arthritis doctor will make a decision of what treatment path to follow.
Your first visit to a rheumatologist may be fairly long and you should be prepared for a complete joint exam. The doctor will want to know which joints hurt and what your mobility range is in these joints. He will also check for any joint damage you may have already suffered. Based on his findings, your arthritis doctor will suggest treatment options which may include different arthritis specific medicines, exercise or therapy. Despite what some think, a rheumatologist can do more than prescribe pain medicine for your aches and pains. He may be able to put you on a treatment plan that can actually keep your arthritis from getting worse.
If your family doctor suggests you see a rheumatologist, keep an open mind. These doctors are better trained to treat your arthritis symptoms. In order to make your visit successful, be prepared to give the arthritis doctor as much information about your aches and pains as you can. The success of your first visit depends greatly on you.
The Clock Is Ticking, Better Hurry
How often do you find yourself procrastinating? That the project due next week can wait. That the fishing trip with your family can wait. That the visit to your elderly parents can wait. That the health screening can wait. That the meal with your best friend can wait. That your reading can wait. That your dreams can wait.
Our time on earth is limited. We do not live forever. Yet, we seem to forget this and live as if there is always a tomorrow. We postpone the things we need to do, the time we need to spend with our friends and loved ones as well as our dreams, thinking that time is always on our side. And we tell ourselves that, one of these fine days, we will find a time to do it.
It is common for students to wait till the last minute before preparing for examination. It is common for tax payers to file their tax return on the very day of the deadline. It is not surprising to see passengers arriving at the boarding gate seconds before the gate closes. But, the problem is, we do not know when the gate will close on us. There is no guarantee that we will live up to a ripe age of 80 years old, or for that matter, any age.
Don’t gamble with time. The clock is ticking, better hurry. Don’t get busy over things that will not matter at the end of the journey. Do the things that are close to your heart. Make time for your loved ones. If there is something that you have always wanted to do, but have not done so for one reason or another, hesitate no further. Do it before it’s too late as there will not be a last call for boarding to your next destination.
Goal Achieving Process – Dreaming Big Dreams
I recently came accross this article by Kris de Leon. Have a read and tell me wahat you think.
The big step in the goal achieving process is dreaming big dreams. This is my favorite part of the process because it unlocks my inner child and opens up my creative faculties. We are all creators of our experiences, so why not make them as big and exciting as possible? Big dreams help you tremendously with goal achievement, especially since big dreams give you power and enthusiasm. When obstacles get in your way and things don’t go according to plan, big dreams make up for it with energy and enthusiasm. Small dreams don’t really give you any kind of power.
Fear and procrastination are two major roadblocks that keep you getting to your goal. If your dreams are not big enough, you’re going to procrastinate. Who gets excited about small dreams? You’ll also let fear overcome you, but with big dreams and energy, you are more likely to overcome fear and procrastination. If you add self-belief to the equation, then you’re definitely going to be an unstoppable force. According to Napoleon Hill, author of Think and Grow Rich, belief and desire are the beginning of all achievement. If you match fear and procrastination against big dreams and belief, chances are the latter will win in a heartbeat. Read the rest of this entry »

It’s Not Easy – Nothing Replaces Hard Work
The Internet is full of ways to create a foolproof home business that makes you rich quickly and easily. I’m here to tell you that these offers are mere fallacies.
There is no home business that is quick and easy and will instantly triple your income. Home businesses are hard work and require time, dedication and perseverance. But they are possible, and have the potential of making you a lot of money and keeping you at home where you belong.
While I can’t and won’t tell you which home business will work for you, I can give you suggestions for how to make your home business work.
DEDICATE YOURSELF TO YOUR HOME BUSINESS
Your devotion to your home business venture can never waver. It must come before all other financial opportunities. This is not to say that you have to quit your job in order to launch a home business. That would be a bad idea, at least until your home business is providing a steady stream of income. However, leave your job at work. Your home is the place for your home business, and you should try to keep your home free of other financial distractions.
Work on your home business whenever you possibly can. Dedicate every free moment you have to advancing your business. Spend time each and every day, including holidays, to furthering your home business, even if you just write down an idea or make a single contact. If you can meet one contact every day, then by the end of your first year, you’ll have 365. Dedicate yourself to your home business and your chances of success will improve drastically.
