How to Find a Niche in Health: Follow Your Passion

Starting a business from home in the health industry allows you to integrate your passion from health with a profitable business.  When you’re passionate about your business, you’ll have the motivation you need to stick with it day after day and make it successful.

I know what it feels like to want to run your own business from home, have a passion for health, but you’re unsure how to find a profitable niche.  Choosing a niche area, or your specialty, is the first decision you’ll need to make when considering what type of home business to start.  In fact, many people make the mistake of finding products to sell before they’ve checked to see if there is a large enough market of people looking to buy those products.  Some even begin investing a lot of money in supplies, materials, inventory and marketing – only to discover that the product line or health business niche won’t be as successful as they’d like because their simply isn’t a large enough market of customers wanting to buy what you’re selling.

I felt the same when I first decided I wanted to run a business from home in the health industry.  I am extremely passionate about health, so I knew it would give me the motivation needed to focus on setting up the business and working on it each day.   You’ll need to do some research and analysing of your own to select the niche you’ll be working with in your home business.  There are a number of things to consider when you’re looking at different niche areas in the health industry, including:

Does your customer desperately want the product or service you plan to offer?

  • Does your product provide a solution to your customer’s health problem?
  • Is your niche narrow enough to target specific people and health issues; yet wide enough that you have a sizeable market base?
  • Will you be able to compete with similar products already on the market; or have you discovered a new product not yet available?

After doing this same market research for discovering a health niche for a home business, and spending several weeks researching various health niches from weight loss to nutritional supplements to physical fitness -  I decided to get involved with bringing a new health care supplement from America into Australia.

My analysis of this potential health niche found that the people of Australia and indeed internationally are interested in improving their health, so I knew there was a large enough market that would be interested in health care supplements.  Supplements solve potential health problems for people who are unable to get the nutrients they need from their diets, whether they’re too busy to eat healthy or have allergy issues that prevent them from eating a wide variety of foods.  And, since I’m involved in a product that has not yet launched in Australia, I’ll be pioneering a new health product that customers will want to try to see for themselves whether it’s better than the competitors.

How will you follow your passion and start a business from home in the health industry?

The Art of Listening

There is a big difference between hearing and listening.

To listen it takes a concious effort. Listening shows someone you care about what they have to say and that their views are important.

Everyone loves to talk. Friends are made by listening to what is important to them.

Listening is not easy, after about 17 seconds our minds begin to wander.

10 Tips to Listening

1. Listening takes energy and time

2.Eliminate distractions

3. Be present in the moment – give 100%

4. Take notes (but ask permission & key themes only)

5. Ask clarifying questions

6. Look for non-verbal clues – tone, expression & body language changes

7. Stop talking too much. The goal is to listen

8. Resist the urge to give advice

9.Reserve judgement. Start each conversation as a fresh one. Don’t rely on past conversations, knowledge or misconceptions

10. Practice listening on a regular basis

What do Jamie Oliver and Thermomix have in common?

They both love fresh ingredients, healthy ways of cooking and have made it their business to bring it to the world.

This is an independent review of the Thermomix business opportunity.

A little while ago I attended a Thermomix evening at my friends place. To tell you the truth before I attended I didn’t even know what a Thermomix was. But our friendly Thermomix host Jude introduced us to the most efficient kitchen wiz you have ever seen. It can mill, grind, pulverise, grate, knead, mince, chop, whip, crush, steam and even cook yes cook just about anything, amongst many other features. It’s not a food processor it is the perfect partner in the kitchen. It is the most advanced kitchen appliance on the market today. I was so impressed I purchased one for myself. The only thing missing is the remote control to activate the slicing, dicing and cooking process when you are on your way home from picking up the kids from school. I can see why the Vorwerk Company has a very clear and strong motto which is “Our Best for your family”.

Check out the official company website: www.Thermomix.com.au

There you will find a video that shows you how to make a fruit sorbet from scratch in about 30 seconds: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95O6uUiKKok how cool is that?

There is a multitude of information out there on the company and the workings of the product that is Thermomix, however as I found out not much has been said about the business opportunity that lies within Thermomix.

If you love cooking and entertaining and you are looking to make a living out of it this is an amazing opportunity.

The company’s headquarters are located in Wuppertal/Germany. The company Vorwerk has 120 years of product innovation. It has about 45 000 employees and sales partners. The Business turns over a total business volume of about $US 1.6 Billion a year. It has offices in 60 countries in the world and services 30 different cultures.

The Thermomix is demonstrated exclusively through in-home cooking presentations where you can experience the simplicity of creating healthy, tasty meals in minutes.

The 7 reasons why Thermomix is a great home business opportunity:

1. It is an opportunity to work for yourself part time or full time and fire your boss. The business is completely based on your own efforts. The more people you show the more money you make.

2. This is a growing company that invests heavily in research and the development of high end, quality products.

3. The Thermomix has no comparable competition in the marketplace. It is unique in the functions available and the efficiency of the product.

4. You can follow your passion and teach people how to prepare and cook healthy food. An easy way to start a business cooking.

5. You can make a difference to your own health by cooking everything from scratch without preservatives, colourings etc in just minutes.

6. As a consultant you receive ongoing training and support, cooking classes, newsletters and help from your group and area leaders.

7. Low start-up and ongoing business costs.

Requirements: There is the need to own a Thermomix for the demonstrations. However there is an opportunity to acquire a Thermomix and ‘pay it off’ as you go along and sell the product. It takes about 6 sales to ‘earn’ one.

You need to buy a Business Kit which costs about $ 180. Every demonstration costs you about $ 30 dollars in food. All this can be tax deductable.

Compensation Structure:

1 sale $ 220 $ 220
2 sales $ 240 $ 480
3 sales $ 290 $ 870
4-5 sales $ 340 $ 1360-1700
6-7 sales $ 360 $ 2160-2520
8+ sales $ 370 $ 2960+

These sales numbers always count per calendar month and counting restarts at the beginning of the next month.

These figures are all in Australian Dollars. You will need to find out the compensation amount in the currency of your country.

Consultants can earn a recruiting bonus which is $60 as well as a referral bonus of $50.  And there are incentive rewards available once you sell a certain amount, you will receive special rewards in the form of gifts. There are also group leader bonuses and rewards available if you become an area or group leader.

Time that needs to be invested in doing the Thermomix business: 8 – 10 hours a week as a minimum. More demonstrations lead to a higher reward potential and higher lead generation.

The initial training consists of theoretical training, cooking classes, joint demonstrations with experienced consultants and there is also ongoing training scheduled at regular intervals during the month.

The Thermomix home based business is a fantastic opportunity for anyone wanting to be involved in direct sales with a quality product in a growing industry/company.

What you need to decide if you are thinking about joining the Thermomix team is, compared to many MLM companies it does not create any residual income and therefore relies on the consultant to do the selling and prospecting on an ongoing basis. It does not have a ‘down line’ compensation structure. Compared to other companies that have products that you order on an ongoing basis and where you get commissions on regular orders.

The final word of advice I have about the Thermomix business is this – make sure if you decide to get involved to learn how to market your business in a way that is attractive, fun, and will work long term for you.  You run out of family and friends as customers eventually. Finding new prospects and hosts for demonstrations is left to the individual consultant in the Thermomix business. In order to sell the product you need to find hosts for demonstrations that invite friends to have a look. This is of particular concern as it has a price ticket on the higher end. (The Thermomix retails in Australia for $ 1949)

Learn how to position yourself as a leader and you will attract people to you – and you will never have to hassle your friends, family and relatives again. There is one attraction secret that everyone who has ever built a seven figure income in MLM has mastered, you can find out what it is by clicking on this link: www.mlmexcelonline.com

Internet Secrets Revealed

When I got the invitation from one of my mentors to attend a 4 day ‘internet secrets seminar’ with Andrew and Daryl Grant I was kind of in two minds.

It would mean a whole weekend away from the kids and instead of fun doing outdoors things I would be sitting inside in a stuffy room with 300 people. On the other hand I was drawn by the promise that a well know and extremely successful internet marketing couple would reveal their ‘internet secrets’.

Well curiosity won the day and I decided to go there on the first day (when the kids are in childcare anyway) and if I liked it I would turn up on the other 3 days.

Well was I blown away by what I would say was a full day packed with the most amazing and detailed information. They started off with ‘Keys to having a successful internet business’ which tested your own strengths and weaknesses. The first challenge for me was to rate myself on some key areas of internet marketing.

Well, Andrew and Daryl Grant from ‘Internet secrets’ just kept packing it in. The weekend went on with some extremely interesting and useful information on topics like:

  • how to build a product;
  • build a website;
  • dominate your niche;
  • write a bestseller;
  • write a winning sales letter,
  • as well as the power of joint ventures; and
  • secrets of selling from stage.

All these topics were if not presented by Andrew and Daryl themselves, presented by extremely professional and motivated faculty members including: Mike Rhodes, Bret Thompson, Darren Stephens, Jo Martin and Janet Beckers.

If you need something done, give it to a busy person

Have you ever observed how productive you suddenly can be the week before you go on holidays? Projects and decisions that have hung around like smelly fish for months can suddenly be attempted. Decisions are much easier to make and you just stop worrying about a particular issue. Holidays are a defining timeline and we use them once a year or the lucky people a few times a year to start afresh with a new slate.

How would your productivity levels increase if you could introduce similar timelines into all your business and work dealings? Productivity would go through the roof.

I have recently started using Jamie McIntyre’s, “Results, Purpose, Action” guidelines as a structure for my weekly planning. And I have already seen an increased productivity in getting things done. Especially if you work for your own business it is imperative that you look for a strategy that supports continuous action. I used to have a ‘to do list’ which worked well as the task was to cross things of the list. But that is as far as it went. It didn’t give me the ability to tie related tasks into an action plan or group activities in order to resolve them faster. But the aim is not really to merely cross things of a list, but to actually achieve a goal. Be it a long term or short term goal. To be the most productive one has to accept that you will never be finished. Because if you finished a project and then sit around afterwards doing nothing you are not using this time productively by working on another goal.
